HIRING A DESIGNER can be scary for a first time client…..but it can save you MONEY, TIME and HEADACHES.
A designer will help guide you through the
60,000 DECISIONS made during new construction…..a designer will educated you throughout the building process with their years of knowledge and experience in the building field and will also provide you with products that are not readily available to everyone.
Functionality will be at the top of the list…..not only should your home look great it should also be functional for you and your families needs.
Before color was dated immediately upon moving in…..
DESIGNING a new "look" for the NEW kitchen….now this new home looks and feels new!!! Paint color for the home were chosen before I was hired….6 months after moving into their home they hired me to do the accessories. After working with them for several months they wanted to add decorative tile backsplash….I brought 2 different colors for the client to look at….one went very well with their existing color scheme and the other one I suggested was a compliment to the family area connected to the kitchen. The client really liked the "designers choice" and realized it meant repainting the just painted walls. When in this situation I simply ask "just make sure this is the color you want for a long time"…..because once you invest in tile…..that is something you will be keeping for a long time….paint color is much less costly to change.
So on your next project……JUST DO IT!!!!!!
The Hunger Games featured these dining chairs from the scene in the "city" meeting room….instead of creme they were kiwi green.
The chairs are made from RECYCLED seatbelts…..and comfortable too! They are available in 5 different colors and 4 two tone colors. Besides dining chairs they are available in lounge and ottomans too.
The above dining room blends rustic and modern together which is one of the hottest styles in recent years. The ceiling is wood planks with an oversized contemporary light fixture….once again mixing the two styles & making a dining room that won't be forgotten!
A Diagram ……makes a great starting point.
This diagram is for the K of C Home Show…..we've been in high gear preparing for the Home Show….after sketching a floor plan measuring 10' X 8'….next a color scheme, product displays & powerpoint presentation. Here are a few sneak peeks …..
When a rug is in the design…..I prefer to choose the rug first. Rug options regarding the correct size & color are much harder to find than paint color for the walls, window treatments & accessories….so choose your rug first! The rug I selected for this design has a green background with brown vining beautiful gold/green/red colors in the flower.
This cabinet has many layers of distressing with a black/red finish barely showing through which compliments the red accents in the rug. The large oversized antique mirrored handles are unique and add another element of interest not only to the cabinet but the entire design of the room. I have used this cabinet in the past as a media center in smaller rooms where the TV is less than 38".
This large mirror has everything going for it…..with narrow strips of raw umber colored metal in a crisscross pattern, the concave frame and beveled mirror…..all make this mirror a "Show Stopper"!
Don't hesitate to add different finishes to your room….this chrome base floor lamp adds that surprise of "sparkle" to your room…..so why not add two! Placing one on each side of the cabinet draws your eye across the room to the exclamation marks!!
This black contemporary bookcase is a perfect way to add vertical to a room & display a few of your favorite pieces.
Hope to see you at the Home Show March 9, 10 & 11…..where you can check out the remaining accessories, a contemporary chair & side table …..along with a daily drawing for a free consultation with Sue.
